On Wednesday 7 Aug Siam Sports Bar & Bistro hosted the fundraiser for the young lad Tom. Many attended and showed their support for him and his family. Donations were made, there was a pool competition which created some further good relationships between different age groups and nationalities. Live music was performed from a family friend, who is very accomplished by the way. Food was complementary and enjoyed by all, menus included Thai and western meals.
One of the highlights was Tom can actually speak, albeit very weakly and seldom, but on the road to recovery. His peers, friends were always engaging him in their chatter and jokes, this was beautiful to see. We don’t know how long his recovery will take and also uncertain as to what level he can finally achieve. We hope this recovery goes swiftly and well.
Special thanks to Tom and the family for coming along. Many thanks to all who attended and donated in various amounts. Siam Sports Bar & Bistro hosted a great evening for all with staff serving and cooking meals for many. Lala and Awe have been outstanding for organizing this fundraiser. The Road Eagles, Black Rabbits MC Groups and Chiang Rai Today News made substantial donations. The Thai tattoo shops have also donated their last 2 days earnings to the cause. We all hope this helps Tom and his family in the coming months.
We did learn that a very charitable member of our expat community had just bought a wheelchair outright. Brilliant news for Tom and this allows the rest of the donations to go further in his daily requirements and care costs. We know who you are and have our utmost respect and thanks.
More funds are still coming in, at time of writing we know that over 14,000 Baht was raised on the night. We’ve just been informed that the Tattoo shops donated a very generous 48,200 Bhat! Brilliant effort.

This about an u nfortunate young man who was involved in a motorbike accident on 29 March 2019. Piyapong Doungta, aged 18 years old. As a result of his major injuries, he was in a coma for 6 weeks and nobody knew if he would regain consciousness or survive.
Patience and prayers from the family resulted in him waking and slowly recovering. After 3 months he was released from the hospital to go home. Care 24/7 from his family has burdened them considerably, but all are happy to help him recover.
He is now around 60% recovered, but an awful long way to go. He can hear and understand a little, speech is hopefully coming back soon. He cannot walk and has lost so much muscle tissue he can’t support himself. Wheelchair bound, he is reliant on family for their full support. He needs further monitoring and physiotherapy every Monday at the hospital, indefinitely.
Piyapong understands that the accident was his own fault. Many will say he was very wrong, however, life goes on and we should do what we can to help him and his family in what are very sad times.
With this in mind, there are donations being made to assist with his care from many people. One event coming up on 6 and 7 August is many Tattoo shops will donate all proceeds on these days, directly to the family. Piyapong is currently borrowing a basic wheelchair from the hospital. It would be very beneficial if all of us can raise enough money to buy him his own, more practical wheelchair.

เมื่อวันที่ 29 มีนาคม 2562 ปิยะพงษ์ ดวงตา อายุ 18 ปี ชายหนุ่มผู้โชคร้าย ประสบอุบัติเหตุทางรถจักรยานยนต์ เขาอยู่ในอาการโคม่าเป็นเวลาเกือบ 6 สัปดาห์ และไม่มีใครรู้ว่าเขาจะมีชีวิตรอดหรือไม่ ความอดทนและการสวดอ้อนวอนต่อสิ่งศักดิ์สิทธิ์จากครอบครัวส่งผลให้เขาตื่นขึ้นมา และฟื้นตัวอย่างช้า ๆ หลังจากพักรักษาตัว ใน โรงพยาบาลเป็นเวลา 3 เดือนเต็มๆ หลังจากนั้น เขากลับมาพักฟื้นที่บ้าน ด้วยการดูแลจากครอบครัวตลอดวันตลอดคืน เพราะเขาไม่สามารถช่วยเหลือตัวเองได้เลย ทำให้ครอบครัวของเขาต้องแบกรับภาระอันหนักอึ้งนี้เพียงลำพัง แต่ทุกคนที่ทราบข่าวต่างยินดีที่จะช่วยแบ่งเบาภาระของครอบครัวนี้ และหวังว่าเขาจะหายเป็นปกติอย่างช้าๆ
ตอนนี้เขาฟื้นตัว ประมาณ 60 % ถือว่าเป็นเรื่องดี เขาสามารถได้ยินและเข้าใจได้บ้าง เราหวังว่าเขาจะกลับมาเปล่งเสียงพูดได้ในเร็ว ๆ นี้ ปัจจุบันเขายังคงเดินไม่ได้เนื่องจากกล้ามเนื้ออ่อนแรง และได้รับการกระทบกระเทือนจากอุบัติเหตุในครั้งนั้น ครอบครัวดูแลเขาเป็นอย่างดี คอยให้กำลังใจ และพาเขาไปทำกายภาพบำบัดทุกวันจันทร์ ที่โรงพยาบาลของรัฐ เพื่อให้อาการของเขาดีขึ้น
ปิยะพงษ์ รู้ว่าอุบัติเหตุในครั้งนี้เกิดจากความประมาท และความผิดพลาดของเขาเอง หลายคนอาจจะมองว่าเขาผิดและคึกคะนอง แต่ชีวิตยังคงต้องดำเนินต่อไป และเราควรร่วมกันคิดร่วมกันทำในสิ่งที่เราสามารถทำได้ เพื่อช่วยเขาและครอบครัวของเขาในช่วงเวลาที่คับขันและต้องการกำลังใจให้กับครอบครัวที่ต้องดูแลเขาเช่นนี้ ด้วยความคิดนี้จึงมีการรวบรวมเงินด้วยการขอรับบริจาคเพื่อช่วยเหลือเขาโดยเริ่มจากคนใกล้ตัวไปยังกลุ่ม ”กัลยาณิมิตร” และเพื่อนฝูง อาทิเช่น ในวันที่ 6 และ 7 สิงหาคม 2562 ร้านสักหลายแห่งในเชียงราย จะบริจาคเงินรายได้ทั้งหมดที่ได้รับมอบให้กับครอบครัว ของ ปิยะพงษ์ เพื่อนำไปจัดซื้อเก้าอี้ล้อเข็น และนำเก้าอี้ล้อเข็นที่ยืมมาใช้อยู่ในปัจจุบันส่งคืนให้กับทางโรงพยาบาล เราหวังว่าจะได้รับธารน้ำใจจากทุกท่านที่ได้ทราบเรื่องนี้ เราหวังว่าจะสามารถหารายได้เพียงพอที่จะซื้อเก้าอี้ล้อเข็นคันใหม่ให้กับปิยะพงษ์ ขอขอบคุณทุกท่านที่ร่วมทำบุญและสละกำลังทรัพย์ให้กับผู้ที่กำลังประสบทุกข์ในครั้งนี้ ข้อมูลเพิ่มเติมจะถูกเผยแพร่ที่นี่ ทุกคนที่ต้องการค้นหาข้อมูลเพิ่มเติมหรือติดต่อเพื่อร่วมบริจาคได้ที่ Oak & Awe Coffee Shop ในซอยเจ็ดยอด หรือติดต่อคุณ Lala จาก Hangover Bar ซึ่งขณะนี้เธอได้นำผ้าอ้อมและสิ่งของที่จำเป็นสำหรับผู้ป่วย ไปมอบให้ในเบื้องต้นแล้ว
