Motorcycle Routes
Here are some suggested routes for those of you wishing to experience the fantastic roads, routes and breath-taking scenery the province (and further) has to offer. None of the routes are off-road biking, but some roads can be in need of repair and dangerous during the monsoon season. Where possible, we avoid the very few main highways, we like to take in the scenery and enjoyable riding routes.
Anyone wanting to take some off-road routes, please visit our friends at Ride Asia for professional tours, guidance and equipment.
We strongly advise that you take all safety precautions when riding. If you are a visitor here on your rented scooter, wear helmets, wear long sleeves, trousers and footwear a little more protective than sandals. Yes you will see Thais riding without all of the above, this doesn’t make it ‘OK’ to do the same. Thailand is #2 in the world for traffic deaths, don’t become another sad statistic.
Doi Mae Salong Loop
Golden Triangle - Mae Sai
Doi Chang Loop
Chiang Mai - Indirect Route
No need to take the mostly boring main 118 highway into CM. Take a scenic route, avoid the traffic and meet people as you stop at that small coffee shop along the way. Use the time for some more photography of course!
Phu Chi Fah Loop
Fang - Phrao Mountain Route
Fang Tha Ton Loop
Doi Wawi Loop
